Allow me a more philosophical question, community, as opposed to my usual quantitative research.

How do you define 'sentience'? The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as such:

sentience (ˈsen-tē-ən(t)s\); noun

1 : a sentient quality or state

2 : feeling or sensation as distinguished from perception and thought

It is frustrating to use the term 'sentient' in the definition of 'sentience,' but that is how the dictionary has decided to pursue this topic. ('Sentient' is defined as 'responsive to or conscious of sense impression'.)

However, I believe people have personal definitions of sentience that may not correspond directly to the scientific/quantitative definition. Therefore, I would like to hear your opinions.

I know I pretty much just came back from a slowatus, but it's time for me to take a full on hiatus. I'm this close to dropping DDD completely, and since I don't want to do that (seriously, I think Bass and Giro at least are GLUED in) I'm taking a break. I know there are some RL tags I badly owe people, and I'll still do those, as well as any current ongoing threads. BUT for the most part, I won't be doing anything new for a while. However, if someone has a post they want me to tag, they're more than welcome to IM me or PM the link, or something.
Edit: Oh! And AmyJack, I still wanna do that episode plot whenever you want to. Phineas is currently the only one I'm actively tagging with anyway.

Hi there everyone. Dr. William Birkin here with a quick announcement for everyone who's trying to get Adachi to join their evil clubs or whatever:

As you all may well know by now, Adachi-san is the one responsible for the two murders that took place in Inaba. He is a wanted criminal on the lam, currently seeking refuge inside the TV world.

But there is far more at stake for us than simply apprehending a criminal. It appears that Adachi-san possess a power far stronger than than any of us had realized. For some reason, he is able to exert his will over that other world and influence it in subtle ways.

The fog grows ever thicker around Inaba. The citizens have been reduced to near mindless zombies. The city is becoming increasingly isolated from the outside world. If this continues, Inaba will be cut off, not just in a geographical sense, but in a metaphysical sense. The world inside the TV and the "real" world are slowly merging. If we don't put a stop to Adachi-san by the year's end... the two words will become indistinguishable. And the Shadows will make their way into our world...

For this reason, I strongly urge any and all world-hoppers to avoid Inaba at all costs. I don't have any solid proof as of yet, but due to the metaphysical nature of the fog, I believe that it will make interdimensional travel to Inaba not only difficult, but dangerous as well. There is no guarantee that you would be able to find you way here, and even if you somehow manage to do so... you may not be able to leave.

Until this matter has been resolved and we've successfully defeated Adachi-san... I'm afraid we're going to be stuck here for the time being.

((OOC: I only just came up with this idea yesterday! Basically, as the days draw closer to Christmas, I believe it will become harder and harder for world-hoppers to find their way to Inaba, should they attempt to do so. Eventually, they won't be able to find it at all, due to the fog, and all attempts will fail during the three days prior to the Final Battle, which must take place on the 22nd if you want to end up with the Christmas Date event. You DO want the Chirstmas Date event, right?))

So my labtop decided to crap out on me last night. It's similar to a problem I had before so hopefully a harddrive wipe, reinstall, and reboot will fix everything, And that I don't have to get a new video/graphics card again.

Hello my wonderful community, I have some announcements for you.

- Some of you may have heard through the grapevine that I was rather unaccountably harsh towards a player. This was due to my own misunderstanding of the situation, as well as personal stress; I am very sorry for letting it get out of hand, and freely admit I went too far. I don't want my explanation to come off as an excuse; like I said, I know I was definitely in the wrong with the decisions I made. Also please note, if you have an issue with any of us mods, you can always ask to speak to someone else instead, or use a modpole as an intermediary.

- In addition, please don't swear or yell at the moderators. We're all people too (although we have suspicions about Shiro being a cyborg) and believe it or not, we are all really trying to do what's best for the game. If you have an issue with how we've put something into practice, please be civil, and 90% of the time we'll be able to work things out to your satisfaction.

- There were a few crossed wires today regarding some event scheduling; that will be worked out in the next few days, so hang tight! Just so you know, Miri typically handles viruses/events, Tif handles approval requests and lists, and I handle apps; in the future, we'll direct people towards the appropriate mod to talk to, to stave off any other miscommunications, but as above, if you have an issue with one of us you can take your pick of mod, and they'll get the info to the right person.

- As always with modly posts, take a few moments to review the rules, especially the first one. All of us need a review of that occasionally. Harassing people, especially, is never okay, no matter what the reason.

You know what that means. Calling a hiatus for 6 of the 7 I run, until the 18th. Finals are coming up and I have got to sit my ass down and get shit done ( I've got a final crit in my thesis class this week ohlordy DDD: ). I'll be around with Yosuke for the canon first ending and the like, it'll just be a bit more limited than usual.
